Multimedia Cell Phone/Ringtone WAP-Web Project

Project Overview:

Verticity designed and developed a website (www.digmobile.com) where users can sign up, and upload their own media to their cell phones. The option to share those files within the digmobile community is made available as well.

About Our Client:

Our client is a venture capitalist that wanted to tap into cell phone market especially through the use of various multimedia formats. Observing that their target market (18-34 cell phone users) prefer to listen to their own music, watch their own videos, and look/share their own pictures, our client chose to offer a service which allows the upload of those formats to cell phones quickly, effortlessly, and at a low cost. Wanting to separate digmobile from similar sites, they had decided to offer users the option of sharing their files with the community as well as offering shorter wait times to upload the files. Our client wanted the website to free cell phone users from purchasing/using only the media the providers make available to them.

Our Solution:

Verticity has created digmobile.com which offers users exactly what our client had in mind. A person can sign up –pick a pricing plan and instantly be able to upload files from their personal computer onto digmobile’s site. Through a SMS gateway those files are sent directly to the user’s cell phone and can be used instantly.

Media that can be uploaded and shared include:

• Real Music Tones
• Standard Ringtones
• Picture Graphics
• Animated Graphics
• Video
• Podcasts

Users have the ability to choose exactly what 30-60 second snippet of music/video they’d like to upload to their phone as well. For example, Johnny Doey really loves Guns N’ Roses “November Rain” and his favorite part includes Slash’s guitar solo. He can choose to have only that piece of the song sent to his cell phone to be used as a ringtone. This is just one of many features that let’s the user feel they are in complete control of their cell phone media.

Like stated before, members of digmobile.com have the option of making their files public on the site for other members to search/browse for and use as well. Through the search functionality Verticity implemented on digmobile.com Johnny can search the site for any other Guns N’ Roses songs other users may have opted to share.
